Thursday June 26, 2008 : Free Krylls Music...
Ok, but there is a catch.

You have to live in the US.
If you do, you can get a $5 gift card by going to this link:

http://amiestreet.com/_l/cdbabygift

From amie street which you can use to buy you some krylls music.

You win, we win. Damn. Its like a thing where everyone wins, you know, not a zero sum game.

Damn. You get you some free music and some free learning.

Who needs Phoenix University when you have Krylls?

And to all our fans outside the US, I'm sorry Amie Street hates you, what can I say, some Americans are like that.

Wednesday February 27, 2008 : Hi Facebook...
yeah yeah yeah, beginnings of krylls on facebook is starting to go up.

Monday August 20, 2007 : And on and on til the break of dawn...
Yup, its that time again...

Yet another preview from "My Little Danish Friend' is up on our myspace. Say hello to 'Suckerpunch' and goodbye to 'Antonym'.

Next Monday, the last of the preview tracks will go up and then the countdown towards which two go back up begins...

Right now, it looks like Pierre, SD and Mustangs n' Madras will be the two, of course, your listening habits could change that.

Monday August 13, 2007 : And the previews roll on...
'Of Cool', the sixth track from our forthcoming album 'My Little Danish Friend', is now available for your listening pleasure over at our myspace page.

Monday August 06, 2007 : 'Antonym' returns
I'm skipping tracks 3 and 4 from 'My Little Danish Friend' and jumping straight to the preview of track 5. You've heard it before but not quite so huge sounding. Sure, you won't really experience the huge via a myspace stream but, trust me: it's huge.

We rerecorded Antonym with Don Fury and it sounds a ton better than the version I recorded for the Krylls EP. Go enjoy it...

http://www.myspace.com/krylls

Sunday July 29, 2007 : Say Hello to the "Mustangs N' Madras"
Track 2 from 'Our Little Danish Friend' is now up on our MySpace- ready to start its two weeks of fame. Poor Little 'Pierre, SD' only has one week left. Remember, when its all said and done, the two songs that get the most plays will be put back up again, so if you really like a song, listen to it a bunch.

Coincidentally, we handed the main cover art picture over to DVL this week so the artwork is now officially underway...

-Sean-

Wednesday July 25, 2007 : Krylls EP now available on iTunes
The Krylls EP is rapidly becoming available through a variety of digitial distribution channels. Thats 'biz talk for:

Ruckus
Music is Here
Inprodicon
Audio Lunchbox

Why isn't eMusic on there? Because we are going through cd baby on this one and I guess they don't offer distribution through there. Too bad... anyway.. you're informed... go spend $.

-Sean-

remember capitalism is dead. we are a consumerist society.

Monday July 23, 2007 : My Little Danish Friend: The Myspace Months
So who wants to hear some new Krylls music? You know, the ones off of 'My Little Danish Friend', the as yet unreleased album...

Well your chance is here...

Each Monday, I will upload a song from it to our myspace in turn, bumping older ones off. Whatever two get the best response go back up at the end of it all.

Up first, 'Pierre, SD'.

Enjoy.

-Sean-

Thursday March 29, 2007 : Krylls + your video iPod = Sweeeeeeet!
As you may know, St. Patty's weekend Fearless Music broadcast our live performance of Pompom Pussy; the week thereafter they made a quicktime version available for download from their site.

The only problem? You can't play quicktime movies on a video iPod and need a $30 program to convert it.

So, we stepped into the void. download the iPod ready version today or tomorrow.... it's a big download ( almost 18 megs ).

Enjoy!

-Sean-

Thursday March 22, 2007 : Fearless Music performance available for download
Yip, now all you folks outside the broadcast area for Fearless Music can see our performance of 'Pompom Pussy'. Alas, you don't get the interview bit but most everything is better than nothing.

The quicktime movie can be downloaded directly from http://www.fearlessmusic.tv/videos/Kryllspompom.mov.

Friday March 16, 2007 : The rumpus...
So here it is mid-march 2007 and it has been a while since we let you know what is going on AND as we are being broadcast nationwide on Fearless Music this weekend, it seems like a good time.

So new folks, sit back and learn a bit with the old folks.

1. No shows scheduled right now as we are going to be recording with Don Fury starting in April and want to concentrate on that. If someone comes to us with a show we will take it but as we do our own booking, not much effort is going into that.

2. If you check out the merch section over the next few days you will see that we have bottle openers in again, a new t-shirt design, a new pin, a new sticker and mp3s from 'Orange' for sale. Phew...

3. The tracks that make up 'Orange' are off with DRT mastering right now for the first step towards releasing those recording as a 'real' album. You know, with artwork and all that sexy jazz. We should have that ready to go and available for purchase from CD Baby and other outlets by summer.

4. We are trying to get a little tour together for the summer. Best way to keep up to date on that is to sign up for the mailing list.

I'm sure there is more but... yeah, that is enough for now.

-Sean-

Monday March 12, 2007 : Live and nationwide
Ok, not live. But it was recorded live.

Krylls will be appearing on Fearless Music TV this weekend. Check out the channel listings to get the where and when for your neck of the woods then invite your friends over and have a Pompom Pussy party.

Friday March 09, 2007 : Friday night at the Murder Bar

Sunday February 25, 2007 : How we spent our Ash Wednesday
hi kids, what follows is josh's rendition of the tale of how we spent Ash Wendesday. no, he doesn't always talk about himself in the 3rd person. for those of you who aren't in the know, we will be appearing on the syndicated tv music show fearless music sometime in the not so distant future. anyway, on to josh's telling of the tale... -sean-

Krylls’ television debut! Imagine the romance! A couple of small town kids and a boy from the burbs of the Big Apple, which of them could ever have imagined shaking a sound stage near Times Square?! Near where Dick Clark drops the ball every year!

Josh dutifully arrived half an hour early, while Joe and Sean loaded the Krylls gear (more on that in a minute—an ominous note strikes) into a Brooklyn livery cab and set off for the Isle of Ball Drops. Turns out the “Midtown” region of the Isle is rather congested on a weekday afternoon, and our guitarist/“manager” and drummer crept up the avenues—First, Second, Third, Lex—in the car, bringing with them guitar equipment, drum equipment and, Josh assumed as he paced back and forth on Ninth Avenue, his bass guitar (another ominous note). Oh, that bass guitar! The one he bought from Joey from Diseased ten or twelve years ago! The one Joey wants back someday! But which Josh loves too much to part with now!

Ten minutes late, a little more rubber worn off Josh’s shoes, the car rolls up, and the trunk opens slowly, like a coffin, revealing guitar and drum equipment, but, alas! no bass. Josh has to admit, he was a little pissed.

Luckily, the professionals at Fearless Music were well stocked with guitars and unperturbed by Krylls’ late arrival. They also proved worthy to the challenge of recording a mic’d gas mask, for “Suckerpunch”. Jamie Lamm, the expert producer for Fearless, even graciously blamed the gas mask’s presence on the chili he ate for lunch. Lord knows gas masks make for good TV.

Joe set up shop behind a plexiglass shield with lots of spotlights on him back there, like he was playing in a microwave oven (unfortunately, unlike Mötley
Crüe’s setup in the “Wild Side” video, the kit didn’t spin). We’re looking forward to seeing ourselves on the telly. We’ll let y’all know the dates.. Write and tell us what you think—hurry, because TV is the first step to rockstardom and once we’re stars, we won’t give you the time of day.

Well oranges are... as is my speaker cabinet but my dear children, that is not the Orange of which we speak early this saturday morn.

I speak of the Krylls demo we are circulating around.

Want to get you some? I don't blame you. I spend most of my life wanting to get me some. You want some? You want some? Well then...

Thursday December 21, 2006 : 'Gears of War' Bio Contest
Have you googled 'krylls' lately?

Probably not but, I do from time to time. What have I seen recently?
Apparently there is a monster in the X-Box 360 game 'Gears of War' called krylls. Now, I could go all legal on these people and sue their asses ( which I admit has a certain charm to it ) OR I could have some fun with it.

So, how about we see if we can have some fun. It is a game and you get to play.

Google 'krylls'
Grab text from different 'Gears of War' related posts on the internet that mention 'krylls' and craft it into a krylls biography.
Best entry gets a package of free stuff from us.

And if all your entries suck, I fall back to the sue Microsoft and Epic Games.

Love,
Sean

Wednesday December 20, 2006 : Krylls on the radio

Tuesday December 12, 2006 : Look daddy, moving pictures....
Hey,

We want to put Pompom Pussy, Son of a Pig Farmer or both to video. In my ideal world, it would be animated but if you can come up with something cool, let us know. Basic rundown:

  • You get in touch with your idea, we can toss stuff back and forth etc etc.

  • If we have some common ground, we send you the music so you can sync your work up to it.

  • We both get to use the video for promotional or whatever purposes cos we are poor and can't pay ya.

Of course, we will pimp your name all over the place.

Anyone interested?

Hi-tech, low-tech. As long as it is cool.

Wednesday October 25, 2006 : Hanging on the Gallows Humor
Listen up kiddies,

The time has come when we once again prepare for a great and momentous event. No, the earth's magnetic field isn't flipping but something equally amazing is happening right now.

The return of Gallows Humor and Antonym to our myspace: new, improved final god damn mixes even. As with all good things, something must be lost and right now that means Suckerpunch has to go away ( bye bye boyo ). If you get lonely for it or have yet to have your pretty little orifices violated by its sonic intrusions, you can always visit it at our bandspace.

-Sean-
p.s. anyone want to rah rah rah my rimma jim jam jimi?

Tuesday October 24, 2006 : How do we love the DVL? Let us count the ways...
no, wait. that would take too long.

let us give just another example...

check out other krylls' posters at gigposters.com.

Tuesday October 10, 2006 : Return of the Pussy
And it is some tasty stuff too...

new version of the song formerly/currently known as 'PomPom Pussy' has been up on our myspace page for about a week. I just got forget to tell you about it.

Enjoy those dueling vocals kiddies...

Tuesday October 10, 2006 : Mr Bottle Opener Goes To Italy

When last we heard from him, we was in New Mexico. From the recent photos, we can only conclude that he is in Italy. Man that bottle opener sure gets around...

Friday September 15, 2006 : Suckerpunch
The latest product of our ongoing DIY recording sessions is available as a rough mix for your listening pleasure on myspace page. Go check it out then stroke our egos by leaving us glowing reviews and comments.

Monday September 11, 2006 : A wee review of 'Son of a Pig Farmer'

Oh my god, this is awesome. "I play geetara / I'm Che Guevara / I blast Sandista / Soy Anarchista / ANARCHY!!!" sung with an earnest commitment to being as annoying as possible, almost like the front man is the Fred Schneider of post-hardcore. Loud, goofy, great.

The other reviews are worth reading just for the humor factor even if you aren't looking for new music. Check out Myspace Music Reviews and you won't regret it.

If you do regret it, we will personally give you a penny next time we see you in person.

-Sean-

Saturday August 26, 2006 : Two rough mixes

thanks to michelle for these... just a select few as there are a bunch...

Monday July 17, 2006 : Snapshots
from a week in the life of a Krylls bottle opener

Sunday July 16, 2006 : Hear Sean sing...
That is right, in case you missed it, Nick quit. C'est la vie. The decision of what to do wasn't hard. We played our next show 5 days later with Josh and I faking our way through having lyrics and melody lines. 2 weeks later, we still don't have it altogether but, I wanted to get something up on our myspace that was representative of what will be coming. Josh went to Amherst this weekend so his vocal parts of both 'Warlock' and 'Son of a Pig Farmer' aren't on there yet but, I think it is enough for you to get the idea.

I'd much rather have someone (dis)like us for what Josh and I are doing, not what Nick did.

Expect more very soon... both additional songs and more completed versions of the two I just put up.

Having a blast,
Sean

Thursday July 06, 2006 : Have singer, lose singer
Ok,

so the rumpus is, Nick has left the band.

Josh and I are taking over on vocals.

Our first show was a little rocky on that front but not horribly bad given that we had a VERY short period of time to prepare. The 21st is going to be awesome.

Why did he quit?

Ask him, I don't want to go into it...

-Sean-

Monday June 12, 2006 : Near final mix of 'Railroaded'
Well, folks on Sunday I had a fun time mixing 'Railroaded' and coming up with a mix I like. After Nick joined the band, we through up a couple really rough mixes of 'Railroaded' and 'Garden' so people could get a vague idea of the sound. Like most any rough mix, they weren't the most complimentary sounding...

As I am only a part time engineer ( if you can even call it that ), I'm not at a point where someone can lay down a vocal track and I go... 'oh I know how to mix that'. I spent the last month or so thinking about how to mix Nick's vocals so they would sit well with the music. Hope you like the outcome. There might be a little tweak here or there but, that one is just about put to bed.

I had still more fun on Sunday deciding what to do with the big giant open space towards the end of the song. When we originally wrote it with Ali as our singer, she had the most blood curtling scream in there. I started by trying to duplicate the movement of her scream on guitar ( lots of barely controlled feedback ) then ran it through more effects than you can shake a stick at... the end result? I think it works rather nicely. Hope you enjoy... look for more coming soon-ish.

I will be posting the song here on krylls.com later this week, in the meantime head over to our myspace page and check it out.

-Sean-

Tuesday April 04, 2006 : Last minute show added
Hey folks, we just jumped on a show in Bridgeport this Friday.

All the details are available at http://www.krylls.com/shows/view/37

Quick rundown...

it is the closing part for an art exhibition ( we think )
Its free ( we think )
We are going on between 10 to 11 ( this we know )
We will kick your ears in the ass ( ha! figure that out )

Can't make it? Don't live in the area?
Buy a teleporter! ( heard that before? )

OR...

just tell any friends you might have in the CT/Westchester-ish areas...

p.s. this is what you get when you write us and ask us to play...
you too can have Krylls play for you as long you can:

1- find a place and a pa
2- pay for our gas ( more would be nice... but ya know... )

Tuesday March 14, 2006 : Are you ready to rumble?
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Rats and Rednecks,
Creatures from the Black Lagoon,

Please welcome to the stage or roof or basement floor, weighing in at 175 cm, with a reach of just over 68 kg, our new singer...

Nick...
Miller!

Nick was a redshirt in the hardcore scene of Oswego, NY- that, along with the influences of the chain gang, the rant, and other prevalent poetic forms, shapes his energetic and varied styles of singing. After a customary band hazing, Nick will participate in a trial by fire this weekend when he joins the band in Boston for our first show in 3 months. We've given him a number of older recordings to learn from and boy does he learn fast... will it be perfect? Probably not but, it will still be a blistering load of punk rock staring down from the stage...

Can we get an amen brothers and sisters?

Monday March 06, 2006 : A fond farewell
Dear friends,

As of a week or two ago, Ali Norod is no longer a member of Krylls. The split was an amicable one. We wish Ali the best and hope that the time she has been spending in California working on her screenplay turns out to be both productive and ultimately fruitful. We have started a search for a new singer and have one extremely promising prospect. As some of you know from talking to Josh or myself, when we first went looking for a drummer a year ago, we expected it to be a very painful and long process, ultimately, it turned out to be very quick and painless as Joe seemingly fell from the sky. If Saturday's audition is backed up by a repeat performance this Thursday then we might just set a world's record for easiest audtion process ever. We have to admit that we much enjoyed the American Idol aspect to last years search that resulted in Ali joining the band and I personally am kind of bummed that we probably aren't going to have any drugged up people setting our practice space on fire this time around.

As you may have noticed, we already have a show booked in Boston @ O'Brien's on the 18th. If our search for a singer isn't completed, we plan on playing sans vocalist or perhaps bringing a friend along who knows the songs ( like my brother perhaps... he likes playing the trained monkey ) or hope against hope perhaps bring a new singer along for one serious trial by fire. On this and all things we will keep you updated on.

Looking forward to St. Patrick's day weekend in Boston,
Sean and the rest of Krylls

Monday March 06, 2006 : Congratulations Sergei
Well, it took 3 monthes but, a member of the mailing list finally decided to claim their prize. So congratulations to Sergei of Oakdale, NY who just won a Krylls Zombie Face t-shirt simply for being on the our mailing list. Makes you want to sign up too doesn't it?

-Sean-

If you are associated with Dumba and recently sent us an email about a new place you are booking in Manhattan, then Sean accidentally deleted your email. Please email us again....

Sunday September 25, 2005 : Tonight's show cancelled...

Simply get 5 people to listen to our song 'Pompom Pussy' and we will install an incompetent government official in the state house, town hall, or other seat of power nearest to your residence.

Tuesday September 13, 2005 : We need artists...
We are looking for a person or persons who can provide us with a unique and distinctive ongoing set of artwork for flyers, posters, stickers, et al. If you or anyone you know would be interested, please get in touch with us.

Thursday August 25, 2005 : The latest in Krylls-isms
Krylls has been a busy little atom lately. You may have seen our little electrons buzzing around after Breakage Rising’s soaring note-for-note rendition of 'Master of Puppets' in Levittown, or redeeming the bizarre Law & Order evening[1] at Death Disco NYC. Joe’s headfirst dive over the drums at DDNYC was particularly atomic.

Thanks to Ultrasound Lounge, DJ Mojo, BP Fallon, the other bands we played with, and everyone who stayed up till 2 am on a weeknight to hear us[2], especially on their birthdays.

We’re also working our little quarks off to get some sort of recording into your hands (soon!).

And, we will be squeezing the last drops of sunblock out of summer before school starts again and Mr. Drum-diver becomes Mr. Dead Poets Society again. A slew of shows coming up:

Saturday at Apocalypse Lounge

Monday at The Trash Bar with the Dead Betties (these guys can really wail, if you didn’t know that already)

and next Friday (Sept 2) at Scenic with Antonius Block and Moggs (another awesome show)

1. Death Disco NYC was the unfortunate victim of the NYPD’s impotent response to recent drug overdose tragedies gracing our tabloids and fear-mongering news broadcasts lately. The story from DJ Mojo:

"Last wed,...an undercover smelled someone's pot-smoking (NOT BP) near the dj booth downstairs and wrapped up all in the general vicinity...everybody's out including BP with little more than an upset stomach from the rancid bologna sandwiches they give you @ 100 Centre st courthouse..."

2. Looking out at everyone, Sean's heart grew two sizes that day

Monday July 18, 2005 : All the latest and a bit more too...
Krylls is now in full swing. We played a rad show (drum riser!) with the rocking and stylish Dead Betties last weekend at the Dumba Collective in Brooklyn. Thanks again to them for inviting us to that magic evening. We'll be playing again with them in August @ Trash.

The show resulted in pulled muscles for Ali and Josh (who is, at the time of this posting, still less-than-owl-like in his head-pivoting abilities) and an additional laceration for Ali. On a brighter note, too much Busch Light gave Sean a taste aversion to cigarettes, and he's now smoke-free and one step closer to his straightedge destiny.

We don't know if Joe suffered any untoward effects of his drumming that night. It's probably nothing a few Mediterranean sunsets and a little paella won't cure. (Congrats to Joe when you see him--see left ring finger for the full story.)

Sunday May 29, 2005 : Thanks for a great first show
Thanks to everyone who came out to Levittown on Saturday night. We had an awesome time getting to play our first "official" show.

The pre-show Quiznos warm-up was pretty good ('cept they don't toast that shit enough), but you can get basically everything you want toasted (including cookies)!

Many thanks to Bill and Heston Rifle for letting us use their gear and for rockin' out big time; Charley, for setting up the show; and everyone else who came to support/check out our musical cavalcade of mirth and
whimsy.

Please sign our mailing list and keep checking back for more "new" songs and also more shows to come soon..

Thursday May 19, 2005 : New members, new website, new mailing list...
I redid the backend of the website and as we have 3 new members, removed most of the old content from the site as it didn't really apply to us anymore.

I also went through the mailings list as it stood in 3 different places ( a database, my outlook address book, and my thunderbird address book ) and sent out invites to everyone, if you no longer wish to be on the mailing list simply don't respond. Ditto for those who were never on it officially but made it 'on' due to my not organizing my address books very well.

Ali will be taking over posting news from here on out just wanted to pass on this quick note to anyone confused by the sudden lack of content.

Sean

p.s. looks like we will be having our 'first' show in Manhattan on the 26th of May, more information should be posted shortly once everything is confirmed.
